Mark Catalano is an American multi-instrumentalist music teacher, singer-songwriter, composer, and producer.
Born and Raised in Youngstown, Ohio, Mark’s focus has always been music.
In kindergarten Mark’s mom was told by his music teacher that he had perfect pitch. By 13, Mark was writing and recording music, and became heavily involved in Boardman, Ohio’s Grammy award winning public school music program. By the time he finished school he had already done multiple albums, tours, and TV and radio appearances. Mark then briefly attended Youngstown State University’s Dana School of Music before moving to Los Angeles in 2009 to further pursue the opportunity to play professionally. There he met his wife and started a family.
“I started teaching private music lessons in 2006. In these last 16+ years I’ve taught students from ages 3 to 73! I believe that if a student has a strong passion for music, and understands that it takes patience and consistency, they’ll go far.
As a teacher, I try to be a role model and a mentor. To me that means I have to always keep learning too. And I focus on helping students to find comfort and confidence in music. Music is a universal language. Anyone can learn it with practice.
I also feel very fortunate for all of the amazing experiences I’ve had working in the LA music industry. I hope to spread everything I’ve learned (and wish I would have known 15-20 years ago) to as many students as I can!
Mark is available to teach guitar, ukulele, voice, drums, bass, piano, songwriting, and music recording with Logic Pro X.
